Lychgate is located in the picturesque village of Sutton Valence opposite the beautiful 14th Century St Marys Church. The village is about five miles South East of Maidstone on the A274 road going south to Headcorn and Tenterden and overlooks the Vale of Kent and Weald. The nearest railway station to the village is Headcorn, on the South Eastern main line to the Kent Coast and the Channel Tunnel via Ashford, and to London via Staplehurst, Paddock Wood and Tonbridge. Headcorn to London Bridge station takes about one hour and to Charing Cross, one hour and 10 minutes. The village has a small farm shop with post office and three working pubs. Sutton Valence School is a leading Independence School in the village consisting of a nursery, pre-prep and preparatory school and secondary school with sixth form. The secondary school has part time and full time boarding facilities available. The schools are in two separate locations and runs a minibus service from surrounding villages and a shuttle service between both schools.
